The Frozen Fritz Saga

One upon a time-about 5,000 years ago- there was a hunter. This hunter didn't realise at the time that he would become well-known by the strange name "Ötzi" many years after his death. His real name was Fritz. His tribe, the Frozens, had chosen the wonderful country of South Tyrol as their home, mainly because of the mild weather and the diversity in nature.

As a hunter Frozen Fritz was on the move for the most part of the year. During that time he had the most incredible adventures. You must imagine that in those days there were no houses, roads or similar things. The land was dominated by wild woods and rivers, where all sorts of wild animals and creatures lived. Once Frozen Fritz was nearly killed by an enemy tribe on the Similaun in an insidious attempted murder, however, he was fortunately (phew) able to be saved in the last minute.

So it was that one day Frozen Fritz went out to hunt again. He was very unsuccessful; the only thing he managed to kill was a pheasant. Too little to take back to his tribe.
As it was already late and Fritz was tired he spread out his furs and cooked the pheasant over a fire. He had to regain his strength for the next day where he would have to kill a dear or similar animal. However, he soon became very sleepy and he fell asleep next to the fireplace. Some goblins, which happened to be in the vicinity, saw the sleeping hunter and were surprised. These goblins were little creatures with an unhealthy-looking skin colour, pointed ears and wings. They were notorious for their curiosity and mischievousness and feared by many. The goblins immediately made a nasty plan and robbed our Fritz of his tools which he needed for his daily work.

Frozen Fritz was woken up by the noise that the goblins made during their nightly robbery. But before he realised what was happening the malicious creatures had disappeared with his tools. He decided immediately to get them back, but this proved not an easy task. The goblins had all fled into different directions. However, Fritz knew from his longstanding hunts through South Tyrol where the creatures liked to meet.

So he set about retrieving his tools.
The adventure first took him to Merano, a place often visited by older hunters because of the healthy water and the mild climate. From there he made his way to the Überetsch, a wonderful place, renowned for its wild vines and sweet grapes. There, to be precise on the shores of Lake Caldaro, he assumed to find the next meeting place of the small dark beings.
The last meeting place he knew of was in the wild Dolomites, the most bizarre mountain range world-wide. There, better said in the Val Gardena, he hoped to find even the last goblins.

The journey was long and dangerous.
To find out how Fritz managed you can see if you help him re-find his tools.

Good luck!
